This course is for artists who need guidance with the business aspect of their art practice.

If you are aged over 18, you can enrol in this course. You are also welcome to join if you are aged under 18 and have permission from your parent/guardian.

Once you have registered and paid for the course, you can start working on the first module immediately.

Yes – the information provided in each module applies to all artists who want to convert their talent into a business and have Internet access. Please note that the course is only available in English.

You will need a desktop or laptop computer that runs a current operating system with reliable, high-speed Internet access. It will also be helpful to have access to a printer so you can complete the downloadable task forms that accompany some modules.

You will be gaining comprehensive insight into what it takes to establish and operate a successful art business. We want our course participants to be completely realistic and will guide you into choosing the best pathway for promoting and selling your work, establishing positive habits, developing your writing skills and having everything in place in the event media opportunities arise.

We realise that some artists are just starting out and haven’t shown or sold any work as yet, while others have registered their business, established themselves on social media and have started attracting interest from buyers and galleries.

The modules have been provided in an order that flows with your career stage:

• The first 3 modules (Option 2) assist with helping you to choose the pathway most suited to you, setting up your small business from scratch and identifying the strengths that will save you time and money.
• The second 3 modules (Option 3) encourage you to establish good daily, weekly and yearly habits within your business, outline all of the written content artists are required to create, and ensure you are prepared if and when your work attracts the attention of a print or digital publication.

The full course comprises 6 modules and is designed to be done at your own pace. Reading through each module will take around one hour, and some modules require independent reading and research.

No, the course is non-accredited and modules are not assessed. This is a self-managed course, and it is up to you to complete each module and apply the information gathered to your art practice.

Once you have completed the modules you signed up for, you will receive a Certificate of Completion and will be asked to complete our Post Course Survey, which will allow us to receive feedback and refine aspects of the course for future participants.

The newsletter will deliver fresh information from artists, curators, galleries, arts writers, collectors and key industry members. The focus will be on providing subscribers with ongoing insights into establishing and operating a successful small art business.

Payment options include Credit Card, PayPal and Afterpay (for Australian participants).
